In this Masterclass we’re going to take you on a journey into the creative mind of Josh Smith, revealing how he approaches a range of blues styles. We’re going to work with three contrasting backing tracks, and study some ideas for improvising over them. In each case, Josh will improvise a LONG solo and then demonstrate some of the licks as well as lots of other ideas he likes to use. In Part 1, we tackled some of the difficult theory involved with the major-key blues and applied it to a rhumba rhythm. Now, let’s relax a little with the more scale-friendly minor blues. |
