FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

GENERAL QUESTIONS

What is a ‘jamtrack’?

A jamtrack is a long backing track with no lead guitar. It is designed for you to improvise or practise over. You start the jamtrack, grab your guitar and... JAM!

Who made this stuff?

The jamtrackcentral team is Jan Cyrka, Adrian Clark and Steve Norton. We also had some help from a glittering array of special guests!

How long are the backing tracks?

- Jamtrack and Jamtrack Plus packages: between 3 and 6 minutes long.
- Hoodlum Corner and Jazz Corner: same length as the main lead part
- Contributor packages: please check each product for exact details

Can show me exactly what I get? Oh and I'd like a copy for free

But of course! Click here and we'll sort you out immediately!

Will you be adding new material?

Hell yeah! We have lots of ideas for the future!

Do you have permission to use this music?

Yes, because it is ALL written by us. Some of the jam tracks and solos are designed to recreate the sound of famous guitarists, but they are all our compositions.

What do the packages contain?

There is always a backing track. Always. After that, it depends on the package. Some have solos to show you how to sound like famous players, some have amazing solos by our special guests. Sometimes there are also videos of the solos. Some packages are more like lessons. All lessons and solo parts are transcribed 100% accurately, in Powertab and PDF format.

I just want to listen... do you sell regular albums?

Yes, we have a selection of downloadable albums by some amazing guitarists.

I've heard one of these jamtracks before!

Some of them have appeared in Guitarist magazine. However, Future Publishing only sell very recent back issues of their magazines, so we thought we should make all of this music available... for ever!

I saw Guthrie Govan's amazing solo on Youtube and bought a jamtrack package,
but the solo is different!

Guthrie played some solos over existing jamtracks from other packages. They were originally only available on Youtube, but lots of people persuaded us to make proper download packages, complete with full Tab. To get the Guthrie versions, be sure to go to the "Contributors" menu on our site!

Your prices are in a strange currency.

Our prices are in British Pounds, but you can buy our products wherever you are. When you pay, the PayPal site shows the total price in your local currency. To check our prices in all currencies, you can use the Universal Currency Converter.

I'm worried about buying things online

We use secure payment and download systems. We also have a comprehensive set of Terms and Conditions and a Privacy Policy which we recommend you read to put your mind at rest. Payments are processed through Paypal, so we never see your bank or credit card details.

TECHNICAL INFORMATION

Audio

All audio tracks are in mp3 format, encoded at 192kbps. We feel that this is the best compromise between sound quality and download time. There are plenty of options for playing mp3 files... iTunes and WinAmp are the most popular, and they're free.

All of our audio tracks have complete ID3 tags, so they will be displayed with artist, album and track information. Just select ‘Add to Library’ in iTunes, or "Add media to Library" in Winamp, then select your downloaded tracks.

Video

We use mp4 format for videos. You can play these videos immediately in iTunes, QuickTime, VLC and many other programs.
The format is also supported by Windows Media Player 12, but if you have an earlier version, you will need to download extra codecs such as K-Lite.

Tab

All of our Tab transcriptions and lesson notes are in PDF format. This universal format can be viewed in Acrobat Reader (Mac/PC/Linux) or Preview (Mac only).

Most of our Tabs are also in Powertab (.ptb) format. The Powertab Editor program (free download) is only available for Windows, but it also allows you to listen to the solos in MIDI format, and you can adjust the tempo for more effective practising. For a small fee, Mac users can now also open the Powertab files using Tabview.

If you prefer to use Guitar Pro, this program can very easily import Powertab files into .gp5 format.
