This guy makes a very strong impression on everyone he meets even though he may not be an obvious exhibitionist or over flamboyant. Aries is rising in his chart, and the ruler of Aries, Mars, is in a prominent position – he is spontaneous, competitive, energetic even aggressive at times. If at all possible, nothing is going to stand in the way of this guy getting what he wants. Sometimes he might have a tendency to ride roughshod over any opposition and there may be a trail of devastation behind him, especially when he was younger. However, his Sun is in Gemini and also well positioned in the house of communication. He can, if he chooses be an excellent negotiator, subtly tuning in to whoever he is talking to and getting his own way with a great deal of charm. He is probably very canny and if he twigs that by ceding a little ground he will gain far more then he will avoid too many confrontations and come up smelling of roses most of the time. However, there is a sense that he enjoys putting up his dukes (metaphorically) as he likes to win and crucially like to be seen to win!

Mercury, planet of communication, sits right at the deepest point of this chart and in the sign of Cancer. Mystery Man could be quite empathic and able to communicate from the heart – when he wants to. A great deal of the time his own feelings are off limits because he would prefer not to appear emotionally vulnerable. But other people may feel he has a hot line to their own feelings and this could be very advantageous if he is in the business of communicating with the masses. Writing about his complex emotions or expressing them in some other way is a wonderfully creative way of expressing and releasing difficult emotions. I’m inclined to think that he has had his feelings deeply hurt at some time, possibly during childhood and that he is able to convey this to others in a way that makes them feel he understands their pain. Mercury also connects with both the Moon and Neptune and his strong analytical powers are counteracted by powerful intuition that could even stretch to the point of clairvoyance. He may try and keep his feelings under control perhaps because he fears being overwhelmed by them, which is a pointless exercise because they always eventually erupt and denied feelings can and often do create havoc.

There is an air of glamour about Mystery Man – I would imagine that he is extremely attractive, regardless of what he actually looks like. Romantically and sexually he craves excitement and novelty and has most likely notched up a great many lovers, most of whom probably last a fairly short while. He seems to be one of those people who are often ‘in love with love’.

Despite this, I am not sure that he has been all that happy or lucky in his relationships. He could have a tendency to be extremely idealistic about romance and put a new love up on a pedestal only to suffer crushing disappointment as he realizes his chosen one is human and not divine. He may fall head first every time and despite his almost ‘macho’ image be prepared to sacrifice anything for love. I would not be surprised to discover that he has been dragged through the mill by at least one ex lover. Nevertheless this could be due to his own tendency to fall in and out of love spontaneously and for no obvious reason. It may be a cliché but with the Sun and love planet Venus both in Gemini he could be adept at denying his past because….what was true love yesterday is a restriction on his freedom and a pain in the butt today! This tendency to sidestep genuine commitment in favour of romantic fantasy or pure lust is amplified by his Aries Mars and Ascendant – the chase is so much more exciting ands satisfying than the final capture! But he may have found the one by now – because all negative traits can eventually be transformed by self awareness and the passage of time (and that goes for everyone not just MM!)

With Aries rising there is a natural pattern to this chart and we find Capricorn at home on the MC, or ‘career and status’ point of the horoscope. This is an indication of someone with real potential to achieve tremendous success. . Not only does he enjoy the enterprising qualities of Capricorn here but also strongly placed planets either side of this point, which enhance this potential for success, albeit in contrasting ways. Right on the MC, but coming from the non- career side is Jupiter. This shows that Mystery Man has tremendous faith in himself and his capabilities. He is rarely happy to rest on his laurels but is always looking to the future. On the other side of the MC is baleful Saturn, often considered a malefic influence but here it is one of its home signs, comfortable in its natural section of the chart and probably working rather well for Mystery Man. His natural tendency may be to leapfrog towards his goals but Saturn ensures that he recognizes the value of putting in the groundwork in order to maximize success. It is also a useful counterweight to any urge he has to play God or slip into complacency (or pomposity)!

Saturn rules his MC and I would assume that 1989-1990 were crucial to his professional development and public profile. In fact this pivotal Saturn is crucial to any major career developments for Mystery Man and there are also indications that during 1992 his career went through a very interesting period possibly encompassing some unexpected highs and maybe quite dramatic changes in his life and career. He may have felt confined or disillusioned by the situation he was in that in turn led him to take action in order to release the tension and move on to greater challenges and goals. Another scenario is sudden collapse of structures and/or relationships that he thought were permanent. He may have experienced disillusion and confusion about what to do next but this is not a man who will sit around doing nothing when things go wrong. He most probably let go of anything or anyone that was holding him back, altered course slightly and then made up any ground that he lost and forged ahead with his own dreams and plans.

It is possible that Mystery Man’s career has had periods when he felt he was touching the stars but in no way has any success been purely down to luck. I believe that he understands the value of learning his craft and honing his skills – whatever he does. While he is confident and has enjoyed some lucky breaks he has probably also had to face his fair share of setbacks. But ultimately this is the chart of a powerful and successful person.

The horoscope or natal chart is a map of the planetary positions at the moment of birth. Interpreting this map is the astrologer’s art but so is making sense of current and future planetary positions and how they affect us here on earth. These planetary movements are called ‘transits’ and Mystery Man is currently experiencing some very important and possibly life-changing transits.

In the year from December 2007 he could have been through a series of endings, both professional and personal. Maybe a relationship broke up or perhaps he completed an important project that had taken a great deal of energy and time. However there is also a sense that far from being entirely negative, this actually contributed to a growth in genuine confidence rather than sheer bravado for MM. Now he could be deep in the process of working out how best to focus his creative energies next. He should let his dreams and imagination guide him to his next project because he may feel a little confused about how best to direct his ideas. It may seem as though there are infinite possibilities but nothing seems readily obvious, or just as importantly, actually feasible in the way that he would like. Nothing is clear cut. As we approach the end of 2011 his creativity will begin to surge again. There is a strong possibility that he will be reborn in some way – perhaps dramatically changing his image or the way in which he expresses his talent.

However, right now he has major planetary transits connecting to his chart. Some of these are long term as the ‘outer’ planets (Uranus, Neptune & Pluto) move slowly and take a long time to pass through the signs. {A little bit of astro lore might come in handy here: every month, the Moon visits all of the signs of the zodiac. The Sun in contrast takes an entire year to travel the same distance – it spends a month in each sign and when it hits the exact spot it occupies in your chart you have your ‘Solar Return’ – possibly the origin of ‘Many Happy Returns’! Mercury and Venus take approximately a year to travel the chart and Mars just under 2. Jupiter spends a year in every sign and Saturn two and a half, Uranus around 7 years in a sign, Neptune around 12 and Pluto 16 upwards.}

Currently both transiting Uranus in Pisces and Neptune in Aquarius are hidden behind MM’s Ascendant. This area is traditionally rather unlucky but as these transits are long term there are ample opportunities to deal with difficult issues which will come to light during the coming years. This is sometimes called the house of hidden enemies or alternatively the house of self undoing. Both kind of mean the same thing – it is all too easy to attract negative experiences and or people into your life if you are unaware of your own negative habits and tendencies. Neptune is the planet of creativity and art, devotion and dreams but also deception – of the self and via other people. MM’s Natal Neptune is quite prominent and indicates he is vulnerable to being deceived and let down or just as importantly has the potential to let down and deceive others. It is vital that during the next stage of his life he maintains at least one foot on terra firma and acknowledges and owns his personal unreliable tendencies rather than projecting them all on to others. Neptune also rules drugs and drink – basically anything that transports us from the humdrum here and now of constant effort and struggle to the womb-like state of Nirvana where we would all like to dwell. It also has a strong connection to institutions such as hospitals, prisons and asylums and while it travels through this section of his chart he may at some time have reason to visit one – let’s hope on a voluntary basis!

Uranus is also moving through this area and MM could be surprised and unsettled by impulses and mood swings that seem to come from out of the blue. Uranus is stirring up his subconscious and bringing to light feelings and complexes that MM may have tried to ignore or keep hidden. Sometimes it may feel uncomfortable especially if these challenging feelings are reflected back to him by other people. However, when Uranus reaches his Ascendant, briefly in July & August 2010 and then long term from March 2011, it is time for action.

Saturn is in Virgo now and he would be wise to deal with any health issues. The chances are he could be experiencing a period of low energy, possibly because he has burnt himself out in the period leading up to late 2007. Or maybe because he has vast amounts of routine responsibilities and commitments that have to be dealt with but don’t really inspire him. However, Jupiter, currently in Aquarius is likely to be attracting plenty of new people into his social and professional circle, one or two of whom could be extremely helpful and positive. He needs to use all his powers of discrimination to separate potential allies from time wasters and leeches.

However the planetary transit that has the most power to influence MM’s life is that of Pluto, recently entering into Capricorn where it will remain for 16 years. It would be an understatement to write that this could be a profound moment for MM which could influence where and how he chooses to direct his energy for the next phase of his life. Because I don’t know who this person is or what he does I have no context to work within but the current planetary activity, especially Pluto’s link to the highest point in the chart would indicate that the period between late 2007 and early 2011 amount to a turning point of some kind for MM. He may find himself embroiled in a power struggle that feels like ‘life or death’ to him. It may be that he has to fight to gain control of his own destiny and reclaim a sense of independence. It may involve the actual death of someone who is or has been important to him. He may realize that one course of action is completely wrong for him (probably because his heart isn’t really in it). There are so many ways this transit (that only a small percentage of people will ever experience) could affect MM. It may sound a bit scary but this is a man with a courageous approach to life and so long as he doesn’t allow his judgment to be clouded by fantasy or intoxicants, he will look at these 4-5 years possibly as the making of him. He will definitely have to face disappointment and setbacks if he hasn’t been true to himself. While this can be uncomfortable – or worse – what he will gain by getting in touch with his true self is priceless. I think that whatever difficulties he has to face, success is stamped on this chart – it is whether it is exactly in the way that MM would choose it that is so fascinating.
